Refurbishment of the Víctor Restaurant in Bilbao
Interior design: Vanesa Sagredo
Year of completion: 2020
Materials used: oak
The Víctor Restaurant is an establishment that has been open since 1940. It is located in the Plaza Nueva in Bilbao and is an emblematic place for anyone who comes to Bilbao.
We took part in the complete refurbishment of the premises together with Vanesa Sagredo’s interior design studio.
First floor of the Víctor Restaurant.
From the stairs leading up to the first floor of the restaurant, we can see the entrance door to the restaurant. The door is made of oak with a stained-glass window incorporated into it.
As can be seen in the picture, there is a piece of furniture at the entrance with an oak finish that supports and makes life easier for the team of people who work there. An oak shelf structure with an iron leg attached to the wall has been installed on the left-hand side for checking the reservations book.
There are also two louvred doors lacquered in greyish blue in this space, which open into the toilet area.
For decorative purposes, there is also a curtain that can be used to open up the space or to partition it off if necessary.
The pictures show the result, and the visual effect is impressive for visitors to the Víctor Restaurant.
The exterior lighting plays an important role, creating a spacious, elegant space that will leave visitors with a good impression. In this setting, the wooden furniture that was specially designed and crafted looks spectacular.
Functional and display furniture.
The images show furniture for displaying products and for supporting the people who work in the Víctor Restaurant. The oak finish with LED lighting allows the designed furniture to play an important role in this room.
If you look closely, you can see the decoration on the skirting board and the mouldings along the walls. A dark lacquered finish was chosen, the same greyish blue colour as the bottle display unit. The contrast of the white colour of the walls brings a lot of beauty to the ensemble.
It is worth noting that the decoration includes some of the furniture recovered from the original premises, achieving a very elegant result.
An original touch for the cash counter at the Víctor Restaurant.
Vanesa Sagredo’s interior design studio has added a touch of imagination to the establishment’s counter, by designing a straight piece of furniture with a rounded top. The reed screen framed with oak is varnished in a greyish blue colour in keeping with the image of the room.
Behind this piece of furniture is an oak-fronted cupboard. If you look at the picture, you can see that it is completely smooth, with a grain that gives it a different look. In this case, black Formani handles have been chosen.
The interior of this cupboard is laid out to make it possible to hang up the outer garments of the people coming to enjoy a meal at the Víctor Restaurant.
Windows on the façade overlooking the Plaza Nueva.
This renovation included the replacement of all the windows on the façade facing the arches in the Plaza Nueva. They were quite dilapidated, and an optimum level of sound insulation has now been achieved. To do this, a double rubber sealing gasket and espagnolette was fitted to part of the windows, so they can be opened in tilt and turn mode to create a not too strong, but pleasant ventilation flow for customers.
We fitted Forma Y handles throughout the premises with matching espagnolettes on the windows. The windows were designed to be illuminated from the outside and from the inside, achieving a spectacular decorative effect.
Space reserved for business lunches.
An area has been set aside within the rooms of the Víctor Restaurant for companies to hold more private meetings.
It is possible to divide the dining room by means of a series of curtains to create a warmer and more intimate space. It has been laid out in such a way that companies can plan and combine an exquisite traditional meal with their business meeting. It is without doubt a very interesting place to visit due to its location in an emblematic area of Bilbao.
