A project of these characteristics will surely come as a surprise, because we normally expect to find images of interior decoration for homes, shops and offices. However, several years ago, Landa Ebanistería received a very special order that reminds us of our childhood memories.
At full scale, it is almost an exact replica that can be seen in the Basque Country Railway Museum in Azpeitia of a train car (a term used for train compartments by train lovers and railway industry professionals).
The order involved a high degree of responsibility and the references we were able to work with were the drawings of the original train, several images and the counsel of Juanjo Olaizola. Juanjo Olaizola was the first director of the museum and is a reputed professional who has published numerous articles and books on the history of the railway and its evolution. Juanjo is a demanding perfectionist who worked alongside our Landa Ebanistería team, headed by our founder to achieve a magnificent result.
The work was carried out with the help of the founder of Landa Ebanistería, before his retirement.
Our founder was an outstanding example of the head of a small and medium enterprise, such as ours, where he interweaved managing responsibilities with working hand in hand with his employees. Some of these employees are still part of our company.
The final result of this full scale replica of a train car is spectacular and can be visited in the Basque Country Railway Museum at Azpeitia.
It is a clear example of our carpentry company’s ability to instill life and spirit into wood. A group of excellent wood handcrafting professionals who have known how to embrace modern techniques and tools without losing the essence of their work.
In our day-to-day, we are fortunate to be able to work with superb interior decoration and architecture professionals, as well as with people like Juanjo Oliazola, a researcher and historian with a PhD in Contemporary History from the Spanish Open University (UNED) and a degree in Geography and History.
With this entry from Landa Ebanistería, we would like to pay tribute to other types of projects carried out in our workshop, in addition to our work in homes and business premises.
